Office Christmas Party Activities
Every year, our office Christmas party roles around and every year we are
excited to see what the party has in store for us. After years of doing the
same lunch party with co-workers, we began to look for different ways to
celebrate the holiday season by choosing different office Christmas party activities
and straying from the traditional Christmas party theme.
We started by doing a variation to our traditional Christmas party by
incorporating different themes in the party. These themes led to new office
Christmas party activities such as doing the Limbo to Caribbean Christmas music
or dancing to a Mariachi Band that played Christmas songs. We decided we
wanted our parties to be fun and exciting rather than predictable. We added
the tradition of bringing gifts to exchange by drawing names in secret so that
you wouldn’t know who was buying for you until the day came.
We then decided to incorporate a giving spirit in our office Christmas party
activities and not just making the party about us, but about giving back to the
community. This can be accomplished in a variety of ways. Now, instead of
giving gifts to each other we adopt a family through a local angel tree program
and we all bring gifts or gift cards for the family. We like to adopt a family
with children and we invite them to come to our party so that we can celebrate
with them. One year, we gave money to a non-profit organization in the
community in the name of our company. Last year, we had our Christmas party at
night and decided to expand our office Christmas party activities outside the
office by caroling at a local retirement home.
When organizing your next Christmas party at the office, try to incorporate
office Christmas party activities that will make your party unique to your
office. You don’t have to stick to the traditional red and green colors with
the same food and same entertainment. Do what you can to make your party
memorable and possibly make memories for others in the community as well.
Christmas Office Party Game Tip #1
When planning your Christmas Office Party games, make sure to keep in mind the following questions:
* What is your goal in playing games at the party? Icebreaker? Entertainment? Awarding of Prizes?
* What is the personality and age mix of those attending the party?
* What is the 'feel' of the party? Casual? Dressy? The 'atmosphere' desired will dictate the type of games to be played.
* What is the size of the party? Certain games are more successful depending on the number in attendance.
* What is the size and layout of the party location? Some party games work better depending on the venue. |
