Every holiday that comes, our office wants to have a party. We like to celebrate
everything from Christmas to Easter to new babies to weddings. In fact, we
have even invented reasons to have parties including our annual Jimmy Buffet
Buffet in the summer. For each party, we try to incorporate office party games
to make the event even more enjoyable.
Through the years we have come up with many ideas for office party games. Some
are games that everyone knows that we have added a twist to and others are
games we have invented. Since our office has a wide variety of people from
different ethnic backgrounds, nationalities and religions, we have been able to
incorporate many different and unique traditions and ideas for our office party
games. We have also found the internet to be helpful in our search for office
party games.
One of our favorite Christmas games is a doing a dirty Santa gift exchange.
Everyone brings a gift and we choose numbers. When your number is called you
can either choose a new gift or steal a gift from somebody else. If you do
this, make sure you set a minimum and maximum for the gift and establish some
game rules in advance such as how many times a gift can be stolen.
Office party games should be easily played by everyone in the office. If, for
instance, you have co-workers who do not get around easily, then a race or game
that involves a lot of movement might make them feel left out. This is true in
our office, so we try to be conscious of this every year when planning office
party games. One game that is easy for everyone is a word game that involves
stealing necklaces from each other. We choose words based on the celebration
or holiday. For instance, at Christmas the words might be “presents”,
“cookies”, “shopping”, etc. If you hear someone say one of the “forbidden
words” you can steal their necklace and whoever has the most necklaces at the
end gets a prize.
Choosing successful office party games requires you take consider your office
setting and co-workers. You want to include everyone, have fun and make sure
that you don’t offend anyone. Having the right office party games for your
next office celebration can help make the party a success.
